Engr. Odetoro Waheed Kolapo

Engr. Odetoro, Waheed Kolapo is a Foundation Project Coordinator for Hedgromimcs Investments Plc and one of the core promoters of the multi-sectoral, skills-focus development parks. A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan (1986).

Worked as Plant Engineer at Ferodo Multi-national Friction Materials (Brakes/Gaskets) and Engine Oil Manufacturing Company (Ferodo) from 1987-1990. He joined Federal Civil Service as Industrial Officer in charge of Promotion of Small, Medium and Large Enterprises in Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments (1990-1993). Transferred as pioneer staff of National Automotive Design and Development Council in 1993: handling the development and technical projects including creating enabling environment for automotive assembly, auto manufacturing, local components manufacture and product standards for integration of parts into deletion programme.

The resuscitation of sick and moribund industries, support for investors, technical and financial evaluation of projects, conceptual designs, condition-based monitoring, techno-economic studies and related development-oriented activities were some of his roles from 1993-2020. He is a registered Professional Engineer with COREN and NSE Certification.

He rose to the rank of Director, Industrial Infrastructure Department of NADDC in 2013 where Automotive Testing facilities, Auto Components Parks, Modular Curriculum for Auto Formal and Informal Training and Certification, Automotive Skills Gap-upgrade Training Centres were promoted nationwide. Management responsibilities include networking, central projects coordination and representative of Council at various local and international events. Higher responsibilities include periodic service-role as Acting Director-General, twice from 2019-2020 whenever the CEO was on official leave. He retired from public service on September 2^nd, 2020 for private service.

Engr. Odetoro, W. K. is a Winner of Kwara State Honours Award (1986/87). For meritorious service to Nigeria, he was awarded in 1986/87 service year, the prestigious “NYSC President’s Merit Award with service medal of National Honours Award. He is an Author of two books: “Promoting The Girl-Child” and “We All Had To Run – Prevention, Reduction and Management of Man-Made Disasters”. The vast training, technical and managerial experiences would enrich the successful delivery of set goals.
